The Adventures of Lucy

Sorry I haven't written in awhile. I didn't think I had much to write about, but my dear husband and sister bugged me enough that I came up with a few things.

This week, Lucy has been quite the pill. She's getting into anything and everything. We had to Lucy-proof the cabinets this week because last week Lucy got under the sink and pulled out the Comet. I was standing right next to her, working on dinner, but by the time I looked down she had already taken a swig of Comet and she was going back for more! When she did the same thing a couple of days later we decided it was time to install the child locks on the cabinets.

Not only does Lucy enjoy eating Comet, but she also enjoys playing with the trash can. It's amazing to me what she finds fascinating!

Of course, the next best thing to trash digging is stealing food from the dog. On Wednesday evening while Ries was eating Lucy made a mad dash for her bowl and before I could get to her she had grabbed a piece of Ries' food and shoved it in her mouth. I'm proud to say that she had a particularly disgusted look on her face when she got a taste of it. Hopefully she won't be doing that again!

Our Lucy is getting so big! She can stand up now without holding onto anything. We are trying to encourage her to walk, but it seems like she is content to just stand there and clap her hands. So, to get her moving, we've brought a couple of her walking toys downstairs. David is working late this week, so in a desperate effort to keep Lucy entertained so I could shove a couple bites of food down my throat, I put her behind her walking toy and let her cruise around the living room for a bit. I was sitting on the couch and watched her cruise past me to the front door. This walking toy plays music as she walks, so after about 30 seconds I realized I wasn't hearing the music any more. I got up to see what she was doing and found her about halfway up the stairs!

Seriously, now that I write these stories down I realize that you must all think I am the most negligent mom in the world! :)

Ok, just one more and I'll end this post.

Last night, I fed Lucy chicken alfredo. Let me tell you, that girl loves alfredo! She ate the entire plate of alfredo, and then she started licking her fingers! As she licked her fingers clean, I pulled away her tray and she realized that there was more alfredo on her bib and she started going for it! If I didn't know better I would have thought the kid was starving to death!

Well, that's all for now! I'll post again soon with pictures! Love you all!!

HAHAHA....good job keeping Mom and Dad on their toes Lucy!! (And no, I don't think anyone reading this thinks you neglect Lucy...you're just more honest than most parents! You know these things have happened to everyone who has kids!!)

Well, cousin Myra was an avid trash lover also - so it is genetic and you can rest assured she got it from her daddy's side! Once we started letting her throw things away for us the trash digging improved I believe. About the Comet . . . hmmm. . . paramedic auntie here says Poison Control Number is: 1-800-222-1222! We know you aren't negligent!!! Love and miss you all!
